It is Earth Day (how’s that for stating the obvious?), hence the cliche photo of the earth. Earth Day is a good reminder for being good to the planet and all but I feel it’s kinda a joke. I don’t have anything against Earth Day. I love Mamasita Earth. I just hate holidays that make us celebrate something for ONE day and treat it special that ONE day. I feel the same away about Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Secretary’s Day (or is it Administrative Assistant’s Day?)…all of those BS “holidays”.
We should treat the earth with respect everyday. On a daily basis we should think about how our actions effect the earth and what minor modifications we can make to how we live that, if done for an extended period time and/or done by many, can have a positive impact on this beautiful planet we call home. Carpooling, taking shorter showers, unplugging electronics when not in use, replacing incandescent lightbulbs with compact fluorescent lightbulbs, properly inflating your car tires, using reusable shopping bags…There are so many things we can do to protect the earth every single day…not just on ONE day. So, what will you do for the earth today? And what about tomorrow?
