Treehugger Tuesday: Vodka. It’s Not Just For Dinner Anymore.

In case you can keep a bottle of vodka around the house without drinking it, you may be interested to know it has numerous uses that don’t end in you dancing on your neighbors’ dining room table to Pat Benatar and not remembering the entire thing (this is only what I’ve heard can happen, mind you). The Daily Green posted 10 odd uses for this age-old spirit.  I’ll list them below but you can check out the more in-depth descriptions by clicking here.

Top 10 Weird Uses for Vodka
  1. Defeat poison ivy – cuz we all carry vodka with us when we go camping
  2. Freshen laundry – what says “freshness” better than clothes misted with vodka?
  3. Polishing glass, porcelain and chrome – get thingsAbsolut’-ly spotless
  4. Preserve flowers – I have nothing witty for this one.  I’m out.
  5. Do battle with insects – that does it. I WILL be bringing a case of vodka with me to summer camp this year.  Poison ivy, bugs –  what doesn’t this miracle juice do?!
  6. Soothe jellyfish stings – looks like we should bring a half gallon to the beach too
  7. Wash you hair with it – this would be ideal if you’ve already spritzed your clothes with it (#2).  That way the scents from your hair and your clothes won’t clash…
  8. Clean away mold – so between this one and #7, I’m thinkin’ I should put a bottle of Grey Goose in the shower now too
  9. Make a soothing tincture – I love the word “tincture”.  Don’t you?
  10. Ease a toothache – forget the Oragel! Bring on the jell-o shots to soothe baby’s teething pains
And now you know…
