If you hang out in the mom blogosphere you hear a lot about Etsy. Etsy is a huge website that helps artisans sell their goods. Started 3 years ago by a then 25-yr-old dude who snuck into classes at MIT with a fake student id he handcrafted for himself, it’s grown to over 100,000 sellers hawking their shiz. If you’ve never visited, you MUST. But I warn you, it will pull you in with a big sucking sound.
There are all sort of ways to get exposed to the various handy-crafty folk on Etsy. My favorite way to learn about the cool stuff there is to ”Pounce“. Basically, you hit a button and they show either sellers who have just been added or sellers whose wares have just been purchased. I have ordered from quite a few storefronts at Etsy and the experience with each vendor has been great (figures, I’ve ordered mostly from hard-working moms who bust their tails to provide excellent customer service. GIRL POWER!!!!)
And, did I mention that you find a lot of great stuff for not a lot of money? Less than you’d pay in a boutique or for some mass-produced garbage made by 10-yr-old children in some nasty sweat shop in a third-world country.
Etsy is another way to easily waste an hour of your day, which is what we’re ALL looking for because we have so MUCH freakin’ free time on our hands. You can punch me…er….thank me later…
Go check out Etsy now and tell me what you think!
BTW, the image above is of pendants from the Zephyrwoods shop on Etsy. The discs range about $10-12 in price.

Well said! This was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
