Party’s Over

Posted by Andrea on December 16th, 2008. Filed under: christmas, holiday party.

Well, my big-ass holiday party is O-V-E-R.  I don’t know about anyone else who attended, but I had a great time. Any party that ends with people (i.e., ‘me’) dancing on the furniture is a fun night. The White Cosmo cocktail (thank you, those who voted) was a big hit.  I liked it so much I drank about 5 or 6 of them. My husband who said that he was “only going to drink beer” that evening started doing shots (tequila, Jaegermeister, etc) about 1.5 hours into the evening. Yeah, needless to say I opted to sleep in the guest room that evening.  I love my hubby but had absolutely ZERO desire to have him snoring in my ear and breathing bad booze breath all over me all night.  My two-year-old daughter woke me up at 5:30am yelling into the monitor, “MA-MA, help me, help me” (translation: “Hey Bitch, get your ass up her and get me some damn milk and warm it up a bit…and turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while you’re at it.”) Cleaning up was not fun, especially whilst ever-so-slightly hungover.  I was scraping clumps of sugar caked with dirt from my kitchen floor and trying to steam clean stains out of my carpet. But, that was a small price to pay for the good time.

And now that the party is behind me, I am FREAKING OUT that Christmas is 9 days away. WTF?!! Thank goodness for internet shopping. Next post will be about last-minute shopping ideas…Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Hi there! Regarding gift ideas… I’ve been buying a lot of reusable grocery bags – they’re affordable, responsible, and, in some cases, hip and adorable! If you do a search on Etsy, your head will explode at all the cute patterns. For my kids’ teachers, I bought them the FEED 100 bags: 1 bag = 100 school meals for hungry children through the UN World Food Program (WFP). I got mine at Whole Foods here in the Midwest. Check them out…

I love the bag idea. Personally, I LOVE my Flip and Tumble bags from the wise gals in NorCAl – http://www.flipandtumble.com. See my post from October 31st to learn more: http://www.hipmomswhowork.com/2008/10/fab-finds-friday-reusable-bags-that-you.html.

He was out of bed by 9am (I had the kids go wake him up), but spent the entire Lions game on the couch…
