This was written the morning after the second bailout package was not passed by Congress. I was angry…

Warning: The following tirade contains coarse language and references to the horrific economic situation.  This post may not be suitable for Free Market Conservatives.

I kinda wanted to keep Hip Moms Who Work on the ‘lighter’ side, but I just can’t hold my tongue – or, in this case, I guess it’s my fingers – any longer. I am pretty livid about the inability of those jackasses in DC to come to an agreement on a bailout package. And, I’m also bothered by the folks on “Main Street” who oppose a bailout.

Lets’ start with Capitol Hill and those frickin’ politicians. What are they doing up there? Are they trying to help the American public or are they grandstanding and watching out for themselves (usually the case). The economic situation is DIRE. We are staring another Great Depression in the face and these assholes are voting to protect their place in Washington. The political commentator on NBC Nightly News last night looked at all of the Yea and Nea votes on the package that was not passed yesterday. The congresspeople who voted Yea are largely from states/districts where their position in office is relatively safe (no real fear of losing the next election).  Those who voted Nea were from the other camp – not safe and at risk of losing their next election. Interesting. So, their decision-making is influenced by their own desire to retain power, not necessarily by doing what is right for this country.  Who the hell is going to vote for any of them to repeat their term if we skid into a Depression?
Now to “Main Street”. I get that folks out there are pissed. (I’m pissed too, if you can’t tell.)  I get that they don’t want to bail out a bunch of institutions that are at the root of this economic pickle we’re in now. But, what’s the alternative?!  Massive job loss? Global economic collapse? More houses in foreclosure? A run on the banks? The annihilation of “Main Street”? Wake up and smell the Folgers, ye people of Main Street! Having to provide a bailout sucks, but your life will suck harder if there if we don’t save the effin’ financial system.
Ouch. I just tripped getting off of my soapbox.
I promise to post something much more ‘upbeat’ later today…Thanks for listening to my rant.
